About the Artist

Judy Butler is known for her colorful, painterly plein air oil paintings of the Northern California wine country and Pacific coast.  Most of Judy’s paintings are done “en plein air” on location, with touch-up in the studio. Her paintings are widely appreciated and can be found in collections throughout the United States. Judy studied art at Stanford University (BA) and the University of California, Berkeley (MA), and has studied with Richard Diebenkorn, Elmer Bischoff, and Brigitte Curt, among others. She is a member of Monday Morning Painters and Oil Painters of America. Judy has lived, worked and painted in Berkeley, New York, Egypt, Silicon Valley, Monterey and the Sonoma wine country. Prior to devoting herself fulltime to painting, she worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, graphics manager and art director. Judy currently lives, paints and teaches art in the Northern California wine country. If you go to Sonoma County, you might see her out painting on a back-country road.
